The Hungarian site operates as part of a flexible European MMA production network in close cooperation with the Rastatt plant in southern Germany. Following the EQB, the new EQ technology GLB is already the second fully electric entry model to be produced in Kecskemét, and later this year it will be joined by the GLB equipped with a modern 48V hybrid internal combustion engine. Both the fully electric and the high-tech hybrid variants of the model will be manufactured on the same production line, supported by flexible production planning.

The two-millionth vehicle, an all-electric EQB, rolled off the production line at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét, Hungary.

Jens Bühler took over up the position of plant manager and CEO of the Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét (Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft.) from January.

Production has started in the new 23,000 square metre press plant of the Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét. The press plant will increase the number of "Made in Kecskemét" parts worldwide, as it will also supply the Mercedes-Benz global production network with a wide variety of pressed steel and aluminium parts.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét is strengthening its role in the global production network by integrating new models into series production. Series production of models for the new MMA platform (Mercedes Modular Architecture) will start in 2024, while series production of a pure electric model for the MB.EA platform (Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture) will start in 2025.

The Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét, together with Mercedes-Benz Hungária Kft., handed over the first Kecskemét series produced EQB to the local SOS Children's Villages centre for one year of permanent use. The purely electric powered vehicle, which rolled off the production lines in autumn 2021, will make family visits to foster parents, the daily operational tasks, and the child-related administration easier.

Hungary's pure electric series produced car, the new compact SUV model, the EQB was launched at a ceremony in Kecskemét in October 2021. The Mercedes-Benz production lines in Kecskemét now include all drive systems, from classic combustion engines and plug-in hybrids to pure electric ones. 

The new press plant under construction – with about 23,000 square meters – will operate as part of the existing factory in Kecskemét; production is expected to start in 2022. Thanks to the technologies used in the new press plant, the processes of design, development, engineering, tool making and manufacturing become even more manageable. 

The EQB, manufactured at the Kecskemét plant, will be the first purely electric vehicle manufactured in Hungary and produced in series production. The production of the electric compact SUV in Kecskemét is an important milestone in the life of the Hungarian site.

Mercedes-Benz is constantly expanding its EQ Power model range with Plug-in Hybrid drive. The production of two hybrid models of the company's compact car family, the CLA 250 e Coupé and the CLA 250 e Shooting Brake, will take place also exclusively in Kecskemét. The first car is awaited by a Hungarian owner. The Mojave silver metallic CLA 250 e Coupé was driven off the production line in Kecskemét by dr. László Palkovics Minister for Innovation and Technology.

The Mercerdes-Benz plant in Kecskemét finished on the first place of the Daimler Environmental Leadership Award (ELA) on 13 February 2020 in Stuttgart. The prize was launched in 2000 and was awarded for the 12th time this year – with 146 projects submitted by 1,200 participants from 30 countries for the judges to rate. 

This year, for the third time a successful serial production began in Kecskemét: the first Mercedes-AMG Performance models rolled off the production line. The Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC +, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC + Coupé and the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC + Shooting Brake got at the same time on the production line and are manufactured exclusively at the Hungarian site.

In a short time, Mercedes-Benz Cars started manufacturing already the second compact model of the new generation in Kecskemét. Like its sibling model, the CLA Coupé, the new CLA Shooting Brake is also manufactured at the Hungarian site only for the entire world market. 

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét remains the birthplace of the CLA: Following the sales success of the CLA Coupé, launched in 2013, the production of the second generation of this compact model - like its predecessor - now starts exclusively in Kecskemét. 

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé was revealed at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. This compact coupé has an outstanding design and comes with highly intelligent solutions.

The inaugural ceremony of the new training centre of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét erected in hardly a year has recently taken place. The 8000 m2 Mercedes-Benz Academy Kecskemét is located next to Csillag Crèche and Kindergarten on the premises of the car plant. The majority, 6000 m2 of the building is occupied by a training hall equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The 1.000.000th compact car, proud to be known as „Made in Kecskemét” rolled off the assembly line. The order for the beautiful white AMG-line car was placed at an Italian dealership and the car traveled all the way from Bács-Kiskun County to its new owner in Toscana.

A few weeks after production began in the Rastatt plant the Mercedes-Benz Plant in Kecskemét also launched the production of the new A-Class. This is the first factory outside Germany where the production of this innovative vehicle was started. With the new model in addition to the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake the plant in Hungary proudly continues to have a very attractive production profile.

The construction of an 800 square meter educational center was commenced in Kecskemét, primarily for the high school and academic students taking part in the dual training program. Minister for National Economy Mr. Mihály Varga and Mayoress of Kecskemét, Mrs. Klaudia Pataki Szemereyné attended the ceremonious laying of the foundation stone.

Mercedes-Benz will build its second plant in Kecskemét, where the production of both front- and rear-wheel-drive layout cars as well as of alternative powered models will be possible in the spirit of Industry 4.0. 

The Mercedes-Benz CLA and CLA Shooting Brake cars are made in Kecskemét for every market in the world. The new bumper, the black diamond-pattern cooling grill that is part of the standard equipment and the new light-metal hubcaps further strengthen the sporty and expressive appearance of the face-lifted CLA and CLA Shooting Brake models.

The Mercedes-Benz plant provided forty apartments for its employees that they can rent for a discounted fee. The company launched the unique apartment rental program working together with the city of Kecskemét and KIK-FOR Kft.

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. will produce new generation compact cars as well. Daimler AG will invest HUF 185 billion until 2018 in the development of technology and the expansion of its production capacity. In addition to the construction of a new body shop, new effective and innovative equipment will also be installed at the plant.

A huge milestone in the life of the Mercedes-Benz plant was the planning of the dual training system and introducing it to the college a few years ago. The plant is pleased to welcome the former first-grade students taking part in the training now as qualified engineers.

500,000 cars have been produced since the opening on March 29, 2012, at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét. The plant in Hungary contributes to a great extent to the growth of the compact car segment.

The “Star” Nursery School and Kindergarten established for Mercedes-Benz plant employees’ children, by way of funding HUF 250 million from the Széchenyi 2010 Program and the same amount of the company’s own investment, was opened for operation. 

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. was chosen the most attractive employer in 2015. The Randstad Prize is handed every year to the most attractive employers in 23 countries of the world. The start of production of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake was officially celebrated with the press attending the event in the assembly shop of the Mercedes-Benz plant. Plant director Mr. Thomas Geier welcomed special guests at the occasion: among those in attendance were Hungarian Prime Minister Mr. Viktor Orbán, Member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars Mr. Markus Schäfer, as well as members of the economic and political life in Hungary.

The 250,000th car rolled off the assembly line today. The polar silver, right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz CLA AMG will be delivered to an owner in Japan. With the B-Class and CLA models manufactured here, the plant in Kecskemét contributes to a great extent to the success of the Mercedes-Benz premium compact car segment. 

Less than ten months after the opening of Mercedes-Benz’s newest plant in Kecskemét a new milestone was reached in the company’s history: with the official production launch of the Mercedes-Benz CLA – following that of the B-Class – the very first car of the model made only and exclusively in Kecskemét left the production line. 

The Company Daimler launched production at the new car manufacturing plant based in Kecskemét as of today. Now, less than four years after the decision about the location was made by the company, the first Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, for the first time ever in Hungary, rolled off the assembly line. 

The new B-Class will be the first of the two new future compact car models that will be manufactured in Kecskemét. The construction of the plant progresses according to the plans: at present, the testing of equipment is in progress. The installation of technical equipment was accomplished in the production buildings so the technology test-run was launched in accordance with the schedule. 

The Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét can now be clearly noticed from afar thanks to the star representing the brand. The symbolic star, which makes all the world-famous brand’s headquarters and factories unmistakably recognized all over the world, was placed and put in operation on the tallest building of the plant. 

The topping out ceremony at the car manufacturing plant in Kecskemét took place with the attendance of Minister for National Development Mr. György Matolcsy. In order to keep the determined deadlines, a new technology was applied already in the planning phase: the Kecskemét plant was the first among Mercedes-Benz factories where the plans were fully made with the help of three-dimensional digital planning, including the designs for the buildings, the technical equipment, and the production lines as well.

In the presence of Hungarian Prime Minister Mr. Gordon Bajnai, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz’s passenger car division Mr. Rainer Schmückle and the future director of the plant Mr. Michael Frieß launched the construction works of the production plant in Hungary. 

National Development and Economy Mr. Gordon Bajnai and Mayor of Kecskemét Mr. Gábor Zombor signed the collaboration agreement for the construction of a new Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét. 

With four car models instead of the now existing two, Mercedes-Benz intends to be present in the market segment of compact cars to a more emphatic extent. The new investments to be realized in the value of Eur 600 million will guarantee the complete, long-term utilization of the production capacity of the factory in Rastatt.

Mercedes-Benz is investing more than €1 billion to prepare its plant in Kecskemét for future.
