THE MERCEDES-BENZ FACTORY IN KECSKEMÉT WON THE DAIMLER ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

The Mercerdes-Benz plant in Kecskemét finished on the first place of the Daimler Environmental Leadership Award (ELA) on 13 February 2020 in Stuttgart. The prize was launched in 2000 and was awarded for the 12th time this year – with 146 projects submitted by 1,200 participants from 30 countries for the judges to rate. The concern's internal environmental award recognizes efforts to improve the environmental balance of its products and to optimize the production in a manner as environmentally friendly as possible.

The “#Green. #Besser. # Kecskemét” project won the "Outstanding Environmental Commitment" category. Under this slogan, the Kecskemét plant implemented a number of measures that resulted in a 30 percent reduction in energy use, a reduction of more than 30 percent in CO2 emissions, and a 97.4 percent waste recycling rate today. In the spirit of environmental and climate protection, the staff has planted 2278 trees on the factory premises and launched a new waste island concept to support optimal waste separation.

The award is not only a recognition of the efforts of colleagues directly involved in the application but is also the appreciation of the work of all employees and the confirmation of the factory's sustainability strategy at the same time.
