Automotive Painter

Specialising in automotive painting, students master a state-of-the-art technology of refinish work. During their studies, they will gain new skills in the processes of manual and mechanical vehicle refinishing. They will learn about modern polishing materials, so they can perform works in a sustainable and safe way. 

 

Professional skills:

  • prepare motor vehicle bodies for painting and establish a surface protection or paint coating system;
  • knowledge of manual and mechanical abrasives and tools, physical and chemical properties of seam sealants, insulating materials, corrosion and cavity protection materials, paints and varnishes;
  • ability to prepare and finish surfaces of metallic and non-metallic components in accordance with polishing procedures;
  • plan, prepare and perform refinishing procedures on repaired and surface-finished components and bodywork;
  • operate and maintain machinery, tools, equipment, devices, gauges for degreasing, grinding and polishing;
  • apply surface coatings with manual and mechanical polishing tools; 
  • know and apply spot varnishing and foiling processes, buff finished polish;
  • perform quality control tasks;
  • control surface quality on coated and polished surfaces, check for defects, decide whether repairs are necessary and carry out repairs, taking quality and economic aspects into account.
